When Taiwan's tourism industry suddenly took off in the 1990s due to increased tourism from abroad, company after company began pouring their investments into the hotel service industry. As the business world began to realize how specialized and professionalized the industry of hotel management was, many people came to seek the advice of Stanley C. Yen, well established president of The Landis Taipei Hotel. They hoped to enlist his help in hotel management and to benefit from his wisdom and experience in the industry. In response to their high demand, Mr. Yen decided that the best way to fulfil his duties while achieving his aspirations to improve the quality of hotel service in Taiwan was to establish Landis Management Co., Ltd., which he did in June 1991.
When Landis Management Co., Ltd. began its operations, services included the following: establishing the hotel's service philosophy and an employee training curriculum, designing both hardware and software, setting up affiliates, and handling management and operations. In recent years, as competition in the domestic hotel market has become increasingly intense, Landis Management Co., Ltd. came to a profound realization: In this fiercely competitive environment, a hotel would simply no longer be able to survive on its own. Thereupon Landis Management Co., Ltd. guided its six client hotels to form the "Landis Hotels and Resorts."
To date, the Landis Hotels and Resorts has seven hotels under its flag: The Landis Taipei Hotel, The Landis Taichung Hotel, Tayih Landis Tainan Hotel, Yoho Landis Beach Club, The Landis Resort Yangmingshan, The Landis Inn Lotung, and the newest member, Pause Landis Resort Wulai.
Under this new affiliate-based organization, each member of the Landis Hotels and Resorts has benefited from a higher profile and a more competitive position in the market. The members share their resources, lowering costs and raising efficiency. This successful management model has led many formerly independent domestic hotels to shed their fears and enter into affiliations with other hotels to share operations and management responsibilities.
In the past several years, Landis Management Co., Ltd. has continued to refine its four main management characteristics of " professionalization" , " excellence ", " standardization " , and " internationalization ". In 2000, Landis Hotels and Resorts became a charter member of the Asian Hotels Alliance with the aim of bringing the Landis Family onto the international stage and expanding its market through affiliated marketing. With this move, the Landis Hotels and Resorts is poised to bring its operations to a new level of achievement.
